Trehalose, a non-reducing sugar found naturally in various organisms, plays a critical role in INNEA Aqua by protecting hyaluronic acid (HA) from enzymatic degradation. By delaying HA hydrolysis, trehalose extends the dermoregenerative effects, ensuring longer-lasting benefits in tissue repair. An in-vitro study demonstrated that while hyaluronic acid was hydrolyzed by 54.1% within one hour in the absence of trehalose, the presence of just 1% trehalose completely prevented this degradation. Additionally, trehalose has shown superior wound healing outcomes compared to placebo, making it a key ingredient in INNEA Aqua’s advanced formulation.
